Ed-Dahhāk gives this meaning, and it is the sense given by the commentators at 18:30.
Ibn-ʿAbbād gives this meaning.
It is an arabicized word, from إِسْتَرْوَهٌ, which is Syriac; or from the Persian, in which سِتَبْر and إِسْتَبْر mean “thick” in general, from which سِتَبْرَهْ and إِسْتَبْرَهْ are used particularly for thick ديباج, and then the latter is arabicized by putting ق in place of the ه. So says Esh-Shihāb El-Khafājee.
Or the ا, the س, and the ت are added letters, and it is mentioned under the present article as though this were so, in agreement with the form of its diminutive, which is said to be أُبَيْرِقٌ; for in forming the diminutive a word is reduced to its root.
