(TA.) وَلَّى عَنْهُ He turned away from, avoided, shunned, and left, him or it. (Msb.) وَلَّتِ الحَرْبُ [The war declined]. (A, K, in art. سفر .) وَلَّى هَارِبًا He went back, or retreated, fleeing.
