not هَرَبَ, as some have imagined on account of the measure of the first maṣdar, imagining from that also that the past tense is هَرِبَ; nor هَرَبَ, with the past tense هَرَبَ, as some have supposed because of the guttural letter, for a guttural letter, when it is the first, is not reckoned as having any influence on the form of the muḍāriʿ; nor هَرِبَ, as some have thought.

Maṣdar also مَهْرَبٌ and هَرَبَانٌ.

1.1.1[To You I flee for refuge from You]—إِلَيْكَ مِنْكَ المَهْرَبُ

That is, from your punishment; addressed to God.

1.1.2half of the wooden pin, peg, or stake disappeared [in the ground]—هَرَبَ مِنَ الوَتَدِ نِصْفُهُ

1.2he became extremely aged, old and weak, or decrepit—هَرِبَ

Nounمَا لَهُ هَارِبٌ وَلَا قَارِبٌ1 sense

Core sense — he has nothing at all; he is a person of no accountgenerated

He has not, of camels and the like, any that returns from water, nor any that comes to it; that is, he has nothing; or he has nothing, and he has no people. The expression is similar to مَا لَهُ سَعْنَةٌ وَلَا مَعْنَةٌ.

According to IAar, هَارِبٌ means one who returns from water, and قَارِبٌ one who seeks, or journeys to, water.

Or the meaning is: no one flees from him, nor does anyone approach him; that is, he is a person of no account.

A tradition is quoted which confirms the first meaning.
