He became rightly directed; he followed a right direction; he went aright; and so also هَدَى.

Or: he does not know the way he wants to take, or in what direction to go. Sometimes said of a drunken man.

دَاهِيَةُ لاَ يُهْتَدَى لَهَا, by which دَاهِيَةُ الغَبَرِ is explained in the S and O, means لَا يُهْتَدَى للَّنَّجَآءِ مِنْهَا, by which the same phrase is explained in the JK. Or it may well be rendered: a calamity in relation to which one does not know the right course to pursue.

But to those who receive Guidance, He increases the (light of) Guidance, and bestows on them their Piety and Restraint (from evil).

He became rightly directed; followed a right direction; (K;) went aright; as also هَدَى . (S.) He guided himself. He went a right way: went aright. لَا يَهْتَدِى إِلَى جِهَةٍ He cannot go aright: or knows not the way that he would pursue; or knows not in what direction to go: sometimes said of a drunken man. لَا يَهْتَدِى لِأَمْرِهِ means He does not, or cannot, find the way to accomplish, or perform, his affair. اِهْتَدَى He found, (MA,) or took (KL,) the right way or road. [ism waḥda of هَدِىٌّ] A present: a thing sent to another as a token of courtesy or honour, such as is called طَرِيفٌ and لَطَفٌ.

هَدِىٌّ has the same meaning; both are collective nouns.

Now when (the embassy) came to Solomon, he said: "Will ye give me abundance in wealth? But that which Allah has given me is better than that which He has given you! Nay it is ye who rejoice in your gift!

يَوْمَ تُوَلُّونَ مُدْبِرِينَ مَا لَكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِنْ عَاصِمٍ ۗ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِنْ هَادٍ

"A Day when ye shall turn your backs and flee: No defender shall ye have from Allah: Any whom Allah leaves to stray, there is none to guide...
