Form 8اِنْتَهَى عَنْهُ6 senses · 1 main

8.1he refrained, or abstained, from it, as forbidden; he left it, or relinquished itتَنَاهَى

For an example of the sense of leaving or relinquishing, see سَوَادٌ.

8.1.1it ultimately reached, or extended, to him, or itاِنْتَهَى إِلَيْهِ

Sometimes it means that it pertained to him, or it; in this sense said of authority and the like.

And simply: it reached him, or it.

They said: "If thou desist not, O Noah! thou shalt be stoned (to death)."

قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَـٰلُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمُخْرَجِينَ

They said: "If thou desist not, O Lut! thou wilt assuredly be cast out!"

96:15
كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ

Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,-

, and تَنَاهَى , He refrained, abstained, or desisted, from it, as forbidden; left, relinquished, or forsook it. (S, Msb.) See an ex. of the latter voce سَوَادٌ . اِنْتَهَى إِلَيْهِ It ultimately reached, or extended, and sometimes it so pertained, to him, or it: in the latter sense said of authority and the like: and simply, it reached to him, or it. اِنْتَهَى إِلَيْهِ الخَبَرُ , and تَنَاهَى , The information, or news, reached him.
