Feminine with ة; plural نَطْحَى and نَطَائِحُ.

You say also نَعْجَةٌ نَطِيحٌ as well as نطيحة.

Its flesh is therefore unlawful to eat.

The ة is added because the word is made a noun, not an adjective; or because the quality of a noun predominates in it, as in فَرِيسَةٌ, أَكِيلَةٌ, and رَمِيَّةٌ.

Smitten with the horn and so killed: fem. with ة : (L, K:) pl. نَطْحَى (L) and نَطَائِحُ : (Lh, L:) you say also نَعْجَةٌ نَطِيحٌ , as well as نطيحة . (L.) Also نَطِيحَةٌ A sheep or goat (Az) smitten with the horn and so killed. [When En-Naṭḥ rises aurorally, the house-top becomes a pleasant place to sit in the evening, or to sleep on]—إِذَا طَلَعَ النَّطْحُ طَابَ السَّطْحُ
