Er-Rāghib: he cast, threw, or flung it away, as a thing thought of no account or importance. This is the original meaning, and the sense in which it is mostly used in the Qur'ān.
He cast it from his hand, in front of him or behind him; he cast it far away; and (so in the L; but in the K, 'or') he cast it in any manner.
نبّذ has teshdeed given to it to show that the action is repeated, or applied to many objects.
