What (more) can we desire? this our stock-in-trade has been returned to us: so we shall get (more) food for our family; We shall take care of our brother; and add (at the same time) a full camel's load (of grain to our provisions). This is but a small quantity.

1.1the bringing of wheat and other provisions from another place, for one's household or for saleطَعَام

Plural مِيَرٌ; mentioned in the articles دفأ and صيف, and elsewhere.

The first مِيرَة is the رِبْعِيَّة, which is the ميرة at the beginning of the شِتَآء [or winter], that is, in the latter part of December or in January, during the season of rains called الرَّبِيع; about that time the species of millet called ذُرَة, which, as Niebuhr mentions (Descr. de l'Arabie, p. 135, note), is called in El-Yemen طَعَام, is gathered in.

The second is the صَيْفِيَّة, also called the صَائِفَة, which is the ميرة in the صَيْف [or spring], in the first part of the صَيْف, that is, in the latter part of March, about which time wheat, a second crop of millet, and barley are gathered in.

The third is the دَفَئِيَّة, which is also in the first part of the صَيْف [or spring, and so immediately after the صَيْفِيَّة, beginning in the season of the دَفَئِىّ rains, and apparently continuing during part of April, when the same grains are gathered in; or the صَيْف may here mean summer, but the more proper meaning is spring, and the term دَفَئِيَّةٌ seems already to point to the season of the دَفَئِىّ rains].

The fourth is the رَمَضِيَّة, which is the ميرة coming when the earth becomes burnt by the sun, about July, when the month of رَمَضَان began at the time the calendar by the months was fixed by Kiláb Ibn-Murrah, about two centuries before the Hijreh; at that season a third crop of ذُرَة is gathered in, for in some parts of Arabia they have three crops of this grain in the year, the second and third being sown immediately after, or produced by, the grain that falls in cutting the first and second.
