He prevented, hindered, held back, [impeded, withheld, arrested, restrained, kept, debarred, precluded, inhibited, forbade, prohibited, interdicted:] (MA, KL, &c.:) he denied, or refused; doubly trans.; (S, K, &c.:) مَنْعٌ is the contr. of إِعْطَآءٌ .
