قُل لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِن يَنتَهُوا۟ يُغْفَرْ لَهُم مَّا قَدْ سَلَفَ وَإِن يَعُودُوا۟ فَقَدْ مَضَتْ سُنَّتُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَSay to the Unbelievers, if (now) they desist (from Unbelief), their past would be forgiven them; but if they persist, the punishment of those before them is already (a matter of warning for them).
15:65
فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِّنَ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱتَّبِعْ أَدْبَـٰرَهُمْ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنكُمْ أَحَدٌ وَٱمْضُوا۟ حَيْثُ تُؤْمَرُونَ"Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered."
18:60
وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِفَتَىٰهُ لَآ أَبْرَحُ حَتَّىٰٓ أَبْلُغَ مَجْمَعَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ أَوْ أَمْضِىَ حُقُبًاBehold, Moses said to his attendant, "I will not give up until I reach the junction of the two seas or (until) I spend years and years in travel."
43:8
فَأَهْلَكْنَآ أَشَدَّ مِنْهُم بَطْشًا وَمَضَىٰ مَثَلُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَSo We destroyed (them)- stronger in power than these;- and (thus) has passed on the Parable of the peoples of old.

and تَمَضَّى i. q. تَقَدَّمَ [He advanced, proceeded, &c.]. (M.) مَضَى He, or it, passed; passed away; went; or went away. (S, M, Msb, K.) [He went on.] مَضَى لَهُ , said of time: see تَسْهِيمٌ . [ مَضَى فِى سَيْرِهِ He advanced, or pressed onward, with a penetrative energy or force, or a sharpness and effectiveness, in his pace.] مَضَىَ الأَمْرُ , and القَوْلُ , The command, or order, and the saying, was effectual; had effect; was, or became, executed, or performed; syn. نَفَذَ .
