He walked, went, or went along. In its primary sense: he went at any pace on his feet, on foot, whether quickly or slowly.

Er-Rāghib: he removed from place to place at pleasure.

He walked along, marched, travelled, trod, paced, stepped. See form 5.

1.1.1he went on, or continued, in his course of action—مَشَى

So the Mughnee explains this verb under أَنْ, as used in Kur 38:5.

31:18
وَلَا تُصَعِّرْ خَدَّكَ لِلنَّاسِ وَلَا تَمْشِ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مَرَحًا ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخْتَالٍ فَخُورٍ

"And swell not thy cheek (for pride) at men, nor walk in insolence through the earth; for Allah loveth not any arrogant boaster.

38:6
وَٱنطَلَقَ ٱلْمَلَأُ مِنْهُمْ أَنِ ٱمْشُوا۟ وَٱصْبِرُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِكُمْ ۖ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَشَىْءٌ يُرَادُ

67:22
أَفَمَن يَمْشِى مُكِبًّا عَلَىٰ وَجْهِهِۦٓ أَهْدَىٰٓ أَمَّن يَمْشِى سَوِيًّا عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ

Is then one who walks headlong, with his face grovelling, better guided,- or one who walks evenly on a Straight Way?

Properly, and by general usage: he walked with slow steps; that is how I have rendered it under دَلَفَ.

He walked heavily, with an effort, as under تَزَحَّفَ.

I went out taking a walk—خَرَجْتُ أَتَمَشَى

These are said in the present day.

5.1.1the intoxicating influence of the cup of wine pervaded him, or crept in him—تَمَشَّتْ فِيهِ حُمَيَّا الكَأْسِ

i. q. مَشَى : (TA:) [or, properly, and accord. to general usage, he walked with slow steps: so I have rendered it voce دَلَفَ , &c.:] he walked heavily, with an effort. (TK voce تَزَحَّفَ .)
