muḍāriʿـُيَفْعُلُmaṣdarمَدٌّ مُمَادَّةٌ إِمْدَادٌ مَدَدٌ

Core sense — he drew it, he stretched it, he lengthened it; he aided himgenerated

1.1[he drew the bow]مَدَّ القَوْسَ

He drew it, pulled it, strained it, extended it by pulling, stretched it — said of a rope and the like.; maṣdar مَدٌّ, مَدَّ بِهِ, and مدّدهُ [or this last has an intensive or frequentative meaning]; also تمدّدهُ and مادّهُ, or ماددهُ, maṣdar مُمَادَّةٌ and مِدَادٌ.

1.1.1[the utterer of falsehood and the one who transmits it share the sin alike]قَائِلُ كَلِمَةِ الزُّورِ وَالَّذِى يَمُدُّ بِحَبْلِهَا فِى الإِثْمِ سَوَآءٌ

A tradition of ʿAlee: the utterer of the falsehood is likened to the man who fills the bucket in the lower part of the well, and the one who relates it to the man who draws the rope at the top.

Both these verbs are also used intransitively.

the commander aided his army with cavalry and infantry, or with horses and menأَمَدَّ الأَمِيرُ جُنْدَهُ بِالخَيْلِ وَالرِّجَالِ

and We will increase their provision time after time with fruitوَأَمْدَدْنَاهُمْ بِفَاكِهَةٍ

Yoo: with relation to evil one says مَدَدْتُهُ, and with relation to good أَمْدَدْتُهُ; this is generally the case, as in أَمْدَدْنَاهُمْ بِفَاكِهَةٍ [explained above].

we will prolong and increase punishment to themنَمُدُّهُمْ مِنَ العَذَابِ

Qurʾān 19, verse 82. But Z relates that Akh said the reverse, like وَعَدَ and أَوْعَدَ; the usage of the Arabs, however, does not accord with either of these assertions.

مَدِيد: water on which some flour or the like has been sprinkled, or with which it has been mixed.

Or he put some barley coarsely ground, and then moistened, into the camels' mouths.

But their brethren (the evil ones) plunge them deeper into error, and never relax (their efforts).

19:79
كَلَّا ۚ سَنَكْتُبُ مَا يَقُولُ وَنَمُدُّ لَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ مَدًّا

Nay! We shall record what he says, and We shall add and add to his punishment.

50:7
وَٱلْأَرْضَ مَدَدْنَـٰهَا وَأَلْقَيْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ وَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍۭ بَهِيجٍ

And the earth- We have spread it out, and set thereon mountains standing firm, and produced therein every kind of beautiful growth (in pairs)-

84:3
وَإِذَا ٱلْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ
