In the Kur 3:135. Or: may God purge away the sins of those who believe; or the words have another meaning, given below.
Said in a tradition mentioning a sedition, or a conflict and faction: cleared like the gold from the mine, which is cleared from the earth.
This phrase may also be rendered somewhat differently, as will be seen below.
Also مَحَّصَهُ.
2.1.2figurative · مجاز — inferredmay God diminish your sins—مَحَّصَ ٱللّٰهُ عَنْكَ ذُنُوبَكَ
He tried, proved, or tested, him.
Ibn-'Arafeh: the verb has this meaning in the phrase quoted above from the Kur, because the trial of the Muslims diminishes their sins; for تَمْحيصٌ also means the diminishing of a thing.
2.1.3
The clearing, or cleansing, of flesh from sinews, so as to twist them into a bow-string.

They said: "What affair is this of ours?" Say thou: "Indeed, this affair is wholly Allah's." They hide in their minds what they dare not reveal to thee. They say (to themselves): "If we had had anything to do with this affair, We should not have been in the slaughter here." Say: "Even if you had remained in your homes, those for whom death was decreed would certainly have gone forth to the place of their death"; but (all this was) that Allah might test what is in your breasts and purge what is in your hearts. For Allah knoweth well the secrets of your hearts.
