He met him, or it.

1.1.1you will find them lions—تَلْقاهُمٌ أُسْدًا

He [met with, or] found him, or it.

Mughnee, under إِنَّ.

1.1.2I came near to him, facing him—لَقِيتُهُ
I came near to him, facing him—لَاقَيْتُهُ

on this sense I came to face his face; I came near to him. (Ksh, at 2:13.)

18:62
فَلَمَّا جَاوَزَا قَالَ لِفَتَىٰهُ ءَاتِنَا غَدَآءَنَا لَقَدْ لَقِينَا مِن سَفَرِنَا هَـٰذَا نَصَبًا

When they had passed on (some distance), Moses said to his attendant: "Bring us our early meal; truly we have suffered much fatigue at this (stage of) our journey."

19:59
فَخَلَفَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ أَضَاعُوا ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَٱتَّبَعُوا ٱلشَّهَوَٰتِ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَلْقَوْنَ غَيًّا

But after them there followed a posterity who missed prayers and followed after lusts soon, then, will they face Destruction,-

33:44
تَحِيَّتُهُمْ يَوْمَ يَلْقَوْنَهٗ سَلَـٰمٌ ۚ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ أَجْرًا كَرِيمًا

Their salutation on the Day they meet Him will be "Peace!"; and He has prepared for them a generous Reward.

76:11
فَوَقَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمِ وَلَقَّىٰهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَسُرُورًا

But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy.

[He met him face to face; had an interview with him;] the same as قَابَلَهُ. See Form 1.

3.1.1he experienced pain, and the like—لَاقَى

3.1.2he made its two ends meet, and tied it—لَاقَى بَيْنَ طَرَفَى إِزَارِهِ وَشَدَّهُ

Said of his ازار.

فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا وَيَلْعَبُوا حَتَّىٰ يُلَـٰقُوا يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ

So leave them to babble and play (with vanities) until they meet that Day of theirs, which they have been promised.

52:45
فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَـٰقُوا يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ يُصْعَقُونَ

So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs, wherein they shall (perforce) swoon (with terror),-

70:42
فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا وَيَلْعَبُوا حَتَّىٰ يُلَـٰقُوا يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ

So leave them to plunge in vain talk and play about, until they encounter that Day of theirs which they have been promised!-

He threw it where he would find it. (Er-Rághib.) And hence, conventionally, He threw it in any way: (Er-Rághib:) he threw it on the ground: (Mgh:) [he put it:] أَلْقَىْتُ انمَتَاعَ عَلَى الدَّابَّةِ I put the goods upon the beast. And they say: "What! when we lie, hidden and lost, in the earth, shall we indeed be in a Creation renewed? Nay, they deny the Meeting with their Lord.

41:54
أَلَآ إِنَّهُمْ فِى مِرْيَةٍ مِّن لِّقَآءِ رَبِّهِمْ ۗ أَلَآ إِنَّهٗ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ مُّحِيطٌۢ

Ah indeed! Are they in doubt concerning the Meeting with their Lord? Ah indeed! It is He that doth encompass all things!
