He caressed him, soothed him, coaxed or cajoled him; the same as بَارَّهُ.
It also means: he acted in a good manner with him, and showed goodness towards him; or he did so and received the same treatment from him.
Or rather, as a synonym of بَارَّهُ: he behaved towards him with goodness, affection, and gentleness, and with regard for his circumstances; or he did so and received the same behaviour from him.
Core sense — he gave him a gift; he showed him kindnessgenerated
He gave him a gift, or a present.
[By such a thing, or such an action, &c.] This latter sense occurs often.
But أَلْطَفَهَ بِكَذَا, explained by بَرَّهُ بِهِ, may mean: he presented him with such a thing; like وَصَلَهُ بِهِ.

The same as تَرَفَّقَ: see طَبَّ.
The same as تَكَلَّفَ اللُّطْفَ.
تَلَطَّفَ بِهِ is the same as تَرَفَّقَ. Mentioned under رفق.
Such (being their state), we raised them up (from sleep), that they might question each other. Said one of them, "How long have ye stayed (here)?" They said, "We have stayed (perhaps) a day, or part of a day." (At length) they (all) said, "Allah (alone) knows best how long ye have stayed here.... Now send ye then one of you with this money of yours to the town: let him find out which is the best food (to be had) and bring some to you, that (ye may) satisfy your hunger therewith: And let him behave with care and courtesy, and let him not inform any one about you.

A nice, subtle, carefully thought out, quaint, or witty saying, expression, or allusion; a witticism; a quaint conceit.
[A nicety of language;] any indication of subtle meaning that is clear to the understanding but cannot be put into words, such as [matters of] the sciences of taste.
