Form 1لَحِقَهُ9 senses · 1 main

maṣdarلُحُوقٌ

Core sense — he reached him, he overtook him, he came up with himgenerated

Said of grief and the like.

This meaning belongs to the preceding form as well.

3:170

فَرِحِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَيَسْتَبْشِرُونَ بِٱلَّذِينَ لَمْ يَلْحَقُوا۟ بِهِم مِّنْ خَلْفِهِمْ أَلَّا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ

They rejoice in the bounty provided by Allah: And with regard to those left behind, who have not yet joined them (in their bliss), the (Martyrs) glory in the fact that on them is no fear, nor have they (cause to) grieve.

62:3

وَءَاخَرِينَ مِنْهُمْ لَمَّا يَلْحَقُوا۟ بِهِمْ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ

As well as (to confer all these benefits upon) others of them, who have not already joined them: And He is exalted in Might, Wise.

and أَلْحَقَهُ He reached him; overtook him; or came up with him. (S, Msb, K.) لَحِقَهُ It (grief, &c.) overtook him; or ensued to him. Also, and لَحِقَ بِهِ He overtook him; came up with him. لَحِقَ بِهِ He became, or made himself, on a par, or as though on a par, with him. See an ex. voce تَوَحَّشَ . It became adjoined, or annexed, to it. لُوحكَ It was firmly, or strongly, compacted or coherent or knit together: and its several parts were inserted one into another. (TA.) لَحِقَهُ الثَّمَنُ , inf. n. لُحُوقٌ , [i. q. أَدْرَكَهُ , i. e. The payment of] the price was, or became, obligatory on him. (Msb.) لَحِقَتْ قُوَّتُهُ وَسِنُّهُ : see the last sentence of art. عون . لَحِقَهُ has for its inf. n. لُحُوقٌ as well as لَحَاقٌ . (TA.)

Form 4أَلْحَقَهُ بِهِ4 senses · 1 main

Core sense — he made him reach, or overtake, himgenerated

He made him reach, overtake, or come up with, him; or made him follow him.

He made a punishment [overtake him, or] befall him.

He removed him to a place; literally, made him reach it. For an example see خَافِقٌ.

He affiliated him to him: he declared him to be his son, because of a likeness between them.

4.1.2he classed him, as an adjunct, with him; he put him on a par with him—أَلْحَقَهُ بِهِ

Or he made him to be as though on a par with him. For two examples see لَاطَ in the article ليط.

رَبِّ قَدْ ءَاتَيْتَنِى مِنَ ٱلْمُلْكِ وَعَلَّمْتَنِى مِن تَأْوِيلِ ٱلْأَحَادِيثِ ۚ فَاطِرَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ أَنتَ وَلِىِّۦ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۖ تَوَفَّنِى مُسْلِمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِى بِٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ

"O my Lord! Thou hast indeed bestowed on me some power, and taught me something of the interpretation of dreams and events,- O Thou Creator of the heavens and the earth! Thou art my Protector in this world and in the Hereafter. Take Thou my soul (at death) as one submitting to Thy will (as a Muslim), and unite me with the righteous."

26:83

رَبِّ هَبْ لِى حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِى بِٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ

"O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous;

34:27

قُلْ أَرُونِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَلْحَقْتُم بِهِۦ شُرَكَآءَ ۖ كَلَّا ۚ بَلْ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ

Say: "Show me those whom ye have joined with Him as partners: by no means (can ye). Nay, He is Allah, the Exalted in Power, the Wise."

52:21

وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَـٰنٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَآ أَلَتْنَـٰهُم مِّنْ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍ ۚ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٌ

And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds.
