, (S, &c.), aor. كَنُدَ , (A, MS,) or كَنِدَ , (ElBasáïr,) or كَنَدَ نِعْمَةً , (TA,) inf. n. كُنُودٌ , (S. K, &c.) He was ungrateful; he disacknowledged a benefit. (S, A, K.) إِنْ سَأَلْتَهُ نَكَدَ وَإِنْ أَعْطَيْتَهُ كَنَدَ If thou ask of him, he refuseth; and if thou give him. he is ungrateful. (A.) كَنَدَ أَبَاهُ النِّعْمَة (K) He disacknowleged his father's beneficence. (TA.) كَنَذُهُ , (S, L,) inf. n. كَنْدٌ , (K,) He cut, or severed, it. (S, L, K.)

Ungrateful; one who does not acknowledge benefits. El-Kelbee: also كَنَّادٌ, or a denier.

The first is applied also to a woman; and so is كُنُدٌ: an unbeliever.

El-Hasan: one who blames his Lord, who takes account of misfortunes and forgets benefits.

Rebellious, or disobedient, in the dialect of Kindeh.

Niggardly, tenacious, avaricious, in the dialect of the Benoo-Málik.

One who eats alone, withholds his drinking-bowl, and beats his slave.

All these meanings are assigned to it in the Qur'ān, chapter 100, verse 6, إِنَّ ٱلْإِنْسَانَ لِرَبِّهِ لَكَنُودٌ; but of the last ISd remarks that he knows no basis for it in the classical language, and that it is not easily acceptable when coupled with لربّه.
