He cut it, or clipped it, or cut off part of it — hair, wool, plumage, or a nail of a finger or toe — with the مِقَصّ..
Also قصّصهُ, and, by permutation, قَصَّاهُ; or these two forms are intensive.

Said of a weaver: he cut off from a garment, or piece of cloth, its unwoven end, which is warp without woof.
1.1.2take from the extremities of his ears—قُصِّيهِ
He cut off the extremities of his ears.
This occurs in a tradition. [But it may be from the root قصو.]
1.1.3figurative · مجاز — inferredGod took away from, or lessened, [the account of] his sins—قَصَّ ٱللّٰهُ خَطَايَاهُ
1.2he followed his track, or footsteps, in pursuit; he tried to track him—قَصَّ أَثَرَهُ
and in some copies of the K قَصِيصٌ, but the former is right; also قَصٌّ.
He did so by degrees; or by night; or at any time — this last being the correct explanation.
قَصَّهُ means the same, and so do اقتصّ اثره and تقصّص اثره; قَسَّ is a dialectal variant of it.
such a one went out following the footsteps of such a one, in pursuit—خَرَجَ فُلَانٌ قَصَصًا فِى أَثَرِ فُلَانٍ
and they both went back the way they had come, retracing their footsteps—فَٱرْتَدَّا عَلَى آثَارِهِمَا قَصَصًا
Qur 18:63.
1.2.1he related to him the news, the story, or the dream in its proper manner—قَصَّ عَلَيْهِ الخَبَرَ
Also الحَدِيثَ and الرُّؤْيَا., or this is a noun put in place of the maṣdar, so that it has taken its place, and قَصٌّ; or only the latter is the maṣdar and the former is only a noun.
he related the tradition, or story, in its proper manner—اقتصّ الحَدِيثَ
he pursued the particulars of the news gradually and deliberately—تقصّص الخَبَرَ
he recited, or delivered, a discourse of the kind termed خُطْبَة—قَصَّ
we explain to you with the best explanation—نَحْنُ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ أَحْسَنَ القَصَصِ
Or: he made it known to him.
As though he followed the traces of the story in pursuit and related it accordingly.
Qur 12:3. Some say that قَصٌّ is the maṣdar of the verb in this sense, and that قَصَصٌ is a noun [syn. with قِصَّةٌ].
In a tradition about the Children of Israel: لَمَّا قَصُّوا هَلَكُوا, or, according to other relations, لَمَّا هَلَكُوا قَصُّوا, meaning: when they relied on words and neglected works, they perished; or, when they perished by neglecting works, they turned to stories and relied on them.
