the sameقَرِحَ

maṣdar قَرَحٌ and اقرح, the last mentioned by Lh, but bad, or of weak authority, and rejected.

Or he became in the state corresponding to that of the camel termed بَازِلٌ; or he shed [his corner-nipper, i. e.] the tooth next after the رَبَاعِيَة.

When a horse's nipper next to the central pair of nippers falls out and a new tooth grows in its place, he is termed رَبَاعٍ; this is when he has completed his fourth year.

When the time of his قُرُوح comes, [the corner-nipper which is] the tooth next after the رَبَاعِيَة falls out, and his نَاب grows in its place.

[But by the ناب (which more properly means the tusk, and which does protrude at this time) must be meant here the permanent corner-nipper, corresponding to the ناب of a human being.]

This tooth is his قَارِح; no tooth is shed, and none is bred, after قُرُوح.

When the horse has entered his sixth year, you say of him قَدْ قَرَحَ.

One says أَجْذَعَ المُهْرُ and أَثْنَى and أَرْبَعَ and قَرَحَ, the last only without ا.

Of every solid-hoofed animal one says يَقْرَحُ; of every animal with a foot of the kind termed خُفّ, يَبْزُلُ; and of every animal with a divided hoof, يَصْلَغُ.

Nounقَرْحٌ4 senses · 2 main

Core sense — a wound; purulent pustules; a severe mange of young weaned camelsgenerated

1a wound; the bite of a weapon, or of anything else that wounds the bodyقُرْحٌ

In some copies of the K, for عَضُّ السِّلَاحِ وَنَحْوِهِ مِمَّا يَجْرَحُ البَدَنَ we find عضّ السلاح وَنَحْوُهُ ممّا يَخْرُجُ بِالبَدَنِ; the L and TA combine the two readings, the second of which gives a further meaning, given below.

Same as جُرْحٌ, with which جَرْحٌ is held by many to be synonymous.

They are two dialectal variants, like ضَعْفٌ and ضُعْفٌ, جَهْدٌ and جُهْدٌ, and وَجْدٌ and وُجْدٌ, the first being of the dialect of El-Ḥijāz.

Or the first is a maṣdar and the second a simple noun; or the first means as above and the second means its pain; or, as Yaakoob has it, the second seems to bear that latter meaning and the first to mean wounds themselves.

Used in this plural sense the first is a collective noun; its ism waḥda is قَرْحَةٌ and its plural قُرُوحٌ.

in him is pain from a wound, or from woundsبِهِ قُرْحٌ مِنْ قَرْحٍ
1.1purulent pustules; also imposthumes, ulcers, or soresقَرْحٌ

And so قُرْحٌ, according to the L and some copies of the K, as shown above; but this seems to be of doubtful authority. In this sense قَرْحٌ is a collective noun.

Its ism waḥda is قَرْحَةٌ, its plural قُرُوحٌ.

Imra-el-Keys the poet was called ذُو القُرُوحِ because the King of the Greeks sent him a poisoned shirt, from the wearing of which his body broke out with purulent pustules, or ulcers, or sores, and he died. Or, as some say, he was called ذُو الفُرُوجٍ, with ف and ج, because he left only daughters. So Es-Suyootee.

1.2a severe mange, or scab, that destroys young weaned camelsقُرْحٌ

Or one that attacks young weaned camels and from which they hardly ever recover. So Lth.

Az, however, says that this is a mistake, and that قُرْحَةٌ means a certain disease that attacks camels, explained below.
