muḍāriʿـُيَفْعُلُ·ـَيَفْعَلُmaṣdarقَدْمٌ قُدُومٌ

Core sense — he went before the people, he led them; he came to a towngenerated

maṣdar قَدْمٌ, قُدُومٌ, تَقَدَّمَهُمْ, قَدَّمَهُمْ and اِسْتَقْدَمَهُمْ.

He became before the people; synonym سَبَقَهُمْ. He preceded them, went before them, took precedence of them, headed them, and led them so as to serve as an example to follow.

He will go before his people on the Day of Judgment, and lead them into the Fire (as cattle are led to water): But woeful indeed will be the place to which they are led!

25:23
وَقَدِمْنَآ إِلَىٰ مَا عَمِلُوا۟ مِنْ عَمَلٍ فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ هَبَآءً مَّنثُورًا

And We shall turn to whatever deeds they did (in this life), and We shall make such deeds as floating dust scattered about.

قَدَّمَ means the same as تَقَدَّمَ, just as أَخَّرَ means the same as تَأَخَّرَ; so in the Qur'ān 41:1. In the article أخر.

قَدَّمَ [is transitive and intransitive: for its meanings as an intransitive verb, see its synonym تقدّم, and see Form 1]. As a transitive verb it is the opposite of أَخَّرَ. In the article أخر.

That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back.

82:5
عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ

(Then) shall each soul know what it hath sent forward and (what it hath) kept back.

89:24
يَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِى

He will say: "Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life!"

And the Unbelievers will say: "Our Lord! Show us those, among Jinns and men, who misled us: We shall crush them beneath our feet, so that they become the vilest (before all)."

47:7
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِن تَنصُرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ يَنصُرْكُمْ وَيُثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَكُمْ

O ye who believe! If ye will aid (the cause of) Allah, He will aid you, and plant your feet firmly.

55:41
يُعْرَفُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ بِسِيمَـٰهُمْ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَٰصِى وَٱلْأَقْدَامِ

(For) the sinners will be known by their marks: and they will be seized by their forelocks and their feet.

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَوْ كَانَ خَيْرًا مَّا سَبَقُونَآ إِلَيْهِ ۚ وَإِذْ لَمْ يَهْتَدُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَسَيَقُولُونَ هَـٰذَآ إِفْكٌ قَدِيمٌ

The Unbelievers say of those who believe: "If (this Message) were a good thing, (such men) would not have gone to it first, before us!" And seeing that they guide not themselves thereby, they will say, "this is an (old,) falsehood!"
