Core sense — it passed away and came to an end; he became old and infirmgenerated
1.1the present world—دَارُ الفَنَآءِ
and there is also the verb فَنَى, which is irregular, mentioned by Kr, who says it is of the dialect of Belhárith Ibn-Kaab; the first of the two verbs is the one commonly known. The maṣdar فَنَآءٌ belongs to both verbs.
Said of a thing: it passed away and came to an end; it became spent, or exhausted; it failed entirely; it ceased, or perished; or it was transitory, or non-existent.
Aboo-'Alee El-Kálee: the maṣdar means the same as نَفَادٌ, and is the opposite of بَقَآءٌ. The past tense means the same as عُدِمَ. Every created thing is said to be subject to الفَنَآء.
[The abode of passing away, evanescence, or perishing.] So in the T, under دور.
