Core sense — rejoicing, joyful, glad; well pleased; exulting beyond measuregenerated
1rejoicing because of what God has given them of his bounty—فَرِحِينَ بِمَا آتَاهُمُ ٱللّٰهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ
Also فَرْحَانُ and فَرُحٌ, as in some copies of the K and in the L and other lexicons, or فَرُوحٌ as in other copies and mentioned by IJ, and فَارِحٌ and مَفْرُوحٌ, the last mentioned by IJ.
Feminine of the first فَرِحَةٌ; of the second فَرْحَى and فَرْحَانَةٌ, though ISd was not certain that this last is correct.
Plural of the first فَرِحُونَ; of the second فَرَاحَى and فَرْحَى.
Rejoicing, joyful, or glad; or happy; or feeling a lightness in the heart; or having the bosom dilated with a delight or pleasure of short duration, passing, not lasting, as is the case with bodily and worldly pleasures. See فَرَحٌ.
Hence, in the Qurʾān 3:164.
1.1every sect is well pleased, or content, with the religion which it has—كُلُّ حِزْبٍ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ فَرِحُونَ
And well pleased, or content; from which, in the Qurʾān 23:55 and 30:31.
1.2God does not love those who exult, or rejoice beyond measure—إِنَّ ٱللّٰهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الفَرِحِينَ
And exulting, or rejoicing beyond measure; or exulting greatly and behaving insolently and ungratefully; from which, in the Qurʾān 28:76.

Occurrences of this form in the Qur’ān, not Lane’s choice of verse. They show the word in use; they do not say which sense above applies. Where more occur than are shown, the shortest āyāt are chosen.
