He gloried, or boasted; he boasted of, or praised himself for, certain qualities. He recounted the particulars of his ancestral nobility or eminence, or his own honourable deeds or qualities. Or he contended for superiority by reason of honours arising from memorable deeds or qualities, from parentage or relationship, and other things belonging to himself or to his ancestors.
