maṣdar غَلَبٌ and غَلْبٌ, the former being the more chaste, or the latter is a maṣdar and the former a simple noun.

Also غَلَبَةٌ, the most common form, or this is a simple noun like غَلَبٌ, which is perhaps formed from it by dropping the ة; and مَغْلَبٌ; and مَغْلَبَةٌ, which last is rare; and غَلَابِيَةٌ; and, in an intensive sense, غُلُبَّى and غِلِبَّى and غُلُبَّةٌ (Lh: said in the S to mean the same as غَلَبَةٌ) and غَلُبَّةٌ, with fetḥ to the غ, and غِلِبَّآءُ.

Allah has decreed: "It is I and My messengers who must prevail": For Allah is One full of strength, able to enforce His Will.

Kaab Ibn-Málik says: [Sakheeneh (a by-name of the tribe of Kureysh) proposed to contend for victory with their Lord; but he who contends for victory with the very victorious will surely be overcome]

Mohammad Ibn-Selám: when the Arabs say of a poet that he is مُغَلَّب, the meaning is that he is overcome; but if they say غُلِّبَ فُلَانٌ, the meaning is that such a one has been judged to have overcome. So they say غُلِّبَتْ لَيْلَى الأَخْيَلِيَّةُ عَلَى نَابِغَةِ بَنِى جَعْدَةَ, for she overcame him, and he (El-Jaadee) was مُغَلَّب.
