maṣdarعَوْقٌ اِعْتِيَاقٌmuḍāriʿيَعُوقُهُ
Core sense — he hindered him, held him back, or diverted himgenerated
1.1he, or it, hindered him, held him back, retarded him, or diverted him by occupying him with something else—اعتاقهُ
Of the headword: with which عَيْقٌ is synonymous [as maṣdar of عَاقَهُ, whose muḍāriʿ is يَعِيقُهُ]; so in art. عيق.
Maṣdar اِعْتِيَاقٌ and اعاقهُ [if this last is not a mistranscription for اعتاقهُ].
he, or it, hindered him, held him back, or diverted him—عوّقهُ
Maṣdar تَعْوِيقٌ and تعوّقهُ.
he hindered him from such a thing—عَنْ كَذَا
he turned him away from the course he wanted to follow—عَنِ الوَجْهِ الَّذِى أَرَادَهُ
[Of the verbs listed here, the first is said to mean the same as حَبَسَهُ and صَرَفَهُ; IJ says the same of the last, and others say it of the second, and apparently of this one and of the fourth as well. The fourth means the same as ثَبَّطَهُ, and so, it is said, do the first and the second; and the first, third and fourth mean the same as مَنَعَهُ.]
And عَقَاهُ means the same as عَاقَهُ, عوّقهُ and اعتاقهُ.
1.1.1she did not cling to her husband's heart—مَا عَاقَتْ عِنْدَ زَوْجِهَا وَلَا لَاقَتْ
Also given as مَا عَاقَتْ وَلَا لَاقَتْ عِنْدَ زَوْجِهَا.
IKtt adds: and she did not keep him from leaving her, or from marrying another.
Some say it means: she was not happy with her husband, not near to his heart, not in favour with him or loved by him.
Some say that عَاقَتْ is an imitative adjunct to لَاقَتْ, because that word means لَصِقَتْ.
