Core sense — a party of men who league together, or who claim kinship with one anothergenerated
1companies in a state of dispersion, or separate, sundry parties—عِزِينَ
A party of men such as is termed عُصْبَةٌ, who league together to defend one another, as explained in the O in the article عصب; above, or exceeding, such as compose a حَلْقَة.
Er-Rāghib: a company of men who assert their relationship to one another, either by birth or by leaguing together for mutual aid.
The ة is a substitute for the final radical letter, which is و; or, as some say, the word is from عَزَى, meaning he was, or became, patient, as though they were a company who took patience from one another's example. According to J, the ة is a substitute for ى.
The plural is عِزُونَ, عُزُونَ, and عِزًى, but they did not say عِزَاتٌ.
In the Qur'ān 70:37. Plural of عِزَةٌ, which is said to be originally عِزْوَةٌ, from the maṣdar العَزْوُ, as though each party asserted their relationship [as sons] to other than those to whom the other party asserted theirs.
companies coming in a state of dispersion—عِزُونَ
So explained by Et-Tarasoosee.
in the house are several sorts of men—فِى الدَّارِ عِزُونَ
