1rancour, malice, or spite—ضَغِينَةٌ
Said by some to be a maṣdar: see the form 1 verb.
Or both words signify violent rancour and the like; also enmity; and violent hatred.
The plural of the first word is أَضْغَانٌ, and that of the second is ضَغَائِنُ.
ضَغِينٌ may be a plural of ضَغِينَةٌ [or rather an ism jamʿ], or the ة may be dropped by poetic licence; or these two may be dialectal variants, like حُقٌّ and حُقَّةٌ [according to some], and بَيَاضٌ and بَيَاضَةٌ.
[I drew forth the rancour, etc., of such a one]—سَلَلْتُ ضِغْنَ فُلَانٍ
One says this when he has sought to gain a person's good will or approval.

[one who has a feeling of rancour, etc., against her husband]—ذَاتُ ضِغْنٍ عَلَى زَوْجِهَا
Said of a woman who hates her husband.
