Core sense — one of two or more trees growing from one root; a brother; two adjacent wellsgenerated
One of a pair, or of three, or of more than two or three, or of five or six, palm-trees, or any trees, or trees resembling one another, growing from one root; each [or every one] of them is called the صِنْو of the other [or of the others growing with it]; and so also صُنْوٌ, mentioned by Zj.
Two of such are termed صِنْوَانِ and صُنْوَانِ and صَنْوَانِ; this last implies that صَنْوٌ, as well as صُنْوٌ, is a dialectal variant of صِنْوٌ.
Also صِنْيَانِ and صُنْيَانِ and صَنْيَانِ, which imply that صِنْىٌ and صُنْىٌ and صَنْىٌ are likewise dialectal variants of صِنْوٌ and صُنْوٌ and صَنْوٌ.
The plural is صِنْوَانٌ, and the plural of paucity is أَصْنَآءٌ; the former plural differs from the first of the duals mentioned above by being fully declinable.
Hence, in the Qurʾān [13:4], صِنْوَانٍ وَغَيْرُِ صِنْوَانٍ, that is, palm-trees having one root and others having distinct roots. Ḥafṣ read صُنْوَان, like قُنْوَان, plural of قِنْوٌ, of the dialect of Temeem.
And hence: a brother — but not so called unless coupled with another; or a brother by the same father; [or a brother by the same mother, as is indicated by an explanation of one of the plurals below;] or a brother such as is termed شقِيق, which means by the same father and mother.
And a son, because he has branched out from one stock with his father; and a paternal uncle, though this last meaning is taken from a tradition cited below.
The feminine is with ة, and the plural is أَصْنَآءٌ [a plural of paucity] and صِنْوَانٌ.
It is said in a tradition, عَمُّ الرَّجُلِ صِنْوُ أَبِيهِ [The paternal uncle of the man is the صِنْو of his father], meaning that the stock of both is one.
[And it is said that] صَنْوَانٌ وغَيْرُ صِنْوَانٍ, relating to a man's children, means sons of one mother by different fathers, and children of different mothers by one father.
[This is the plural.]
Ibn-Buzurj. Plural صِنْوَانٌ. (Ibn-Buzurj)

Core sense — a small neglected well; a cleft or ravine in which water flowsgenerated
A small حِسْى [q. v.] to which no one comes for water, and for which no one cares; diminutive of صِنْوٌ.
Or, as some say, a cleft in a mountain; or a ravine, or gap, in which water flows, between two mountains.
