1.1[The state, or condition, of such a one became good, right, or proper]—صَلَحَتْ حَالُ فُلَانٍ

the well-known form, though left out in the K; also صَلَحَ, said by some to be the more chaste because it agrees with analogy, but the first is the more common. Maṣdar صُلُوحٌ (in the CK الصَّلُوح is put by mistake for الصُّلُوح), and صَلَاحٌ, and مَصْلَحَةٌ, and صَلُحَ. Another, is mentioned by Fr on the authority of his companions, but IDrd says it is not well established; maṣdar صَلَاحٌ and صَلَاحَةٌ, or صَلَاحِيَةٌ.

Said of a thing, and of a man: it, and he, was, or became, good, incorrupt, right, just, righteous, virtuous, or honest; it was, or became, in a good, sound, right, or proper state; he, or it, throve. Opposite of فسد; see صَلَاحٌ below.

In Persian نيك شد; and استصلح means the same, since صَلَاحٌ and اِسْتِصْلَاحٌ both mean نيك شدن in Persian.

Gardens of perpetual bliss: they shall enter there, as well as the righteous among their fathers, their spouses, and their offspring: and angels shall enter unto them from every gate (with the salutation):

40:8

رَبَّنَا وَأَدْخِلْهُمْ جَنَّـٰتِ عَدْنٍ ٱلَّتِى وَعَدتَّهُمْ وَمَن صَلَحَ مِنْ ءَابَآئِهِمْ وَأَزْوَٰجِهِمْ وَذُرِّيَّـٰتِهِمْ ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ

"And grant, our Lord! that they enter the Gardens of Eternity, which Thou hast promised to them, and to the righteous among their fathers, their wives, and their posterity! For Thou art (He), the Exalted in Might, Full of Wisdom.

Form 3صالحهُ1 sense

the first of which is made feminine in a verse of Bishr Ibn-Abee-Házim. He made peace, or became at peace or reconciled, with him; or he reconciled himself with him: مُصَالَحَةٌ is the opposite of مُخَاصَمَةٌ.

الأَمْرَ is understood here, so that the meaning is: I rectified, reformed, or amended the circumstances subsisting between the people, or party.

[He laboured in rectifying, or improving, the bad or the good state of circumstances, or the disunion or union, between people]—سَعَى فِى إِصْلاَحِ ذَاتِ البَيْنِ

One also says اصلح إِلَى الدَّابَّةِ, this construction being used because اصلح implies the meaning of أَحْسَنَ.

اِصْطِلَاحٌ is the opposite of اِخْتِصَامٌ, and تَصَالُحٌ is the opposite of تَخَاصُمٌ.

If a wife fears cruelty or desertion on her husband's part, there is no blame on them if they arrange an amicable settlement between themselves; and such settlement is best; even though men's souls are swayed by greed. But if ye do good and practise self-restraint, Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do.

A maṣdar of صَلَحَ and of صَلُحَ; used as a simple noun it means goodness, incorruptness, rightness, justness, righteousness, virtue, honesty, and the like; see form 1.

The opposite of فَسَادٌ, as is also صُلُوحٌ. In the CK الصَّلُوح is a mistake for الصُّلُوح.

According to some, it is not used as a description of a prophet or of an apostle, but only of a person below these; according to others, however, this restriction is wrong.
