صَخْرَةٌ and صَخَرَةٌ are the ism waḥda, meaning one of them, or they have a more special sense [as meaning a rock and a mass of rock].
Plurals: صُخُورٌ and صُخُورَةٌ, and, of صَخْرَةٌ and صَخَرَةٌ, صَخَرَاتٌ.
[In the K, صَخْرٌ and صَخَرٌ, as well as صُخُورٌ and صَخَرَاتٌ, are wrongly called plurals of صخرة.]
By صَخْرَة in the Qur'ān 31:15 is meant a صخرة that is beneath the ground.
And by the صَخْرَة mentioned in a tradition as being of, or from, Paradise is meant the صخرة [or rock] of Jerusalem [in the centre of the building now called “the Dome of the Rock”].
"O my son!" (said Luqman), "If there be (but) the weight of a mustard-seed and it were (hidden) in a rock, or (anywhere) in the heavens or on earth, Allah will bring it forth: for Allah understands the finest mysteries, (and) is well-acquainted (with them).Abdullah Yusuf Ali, The Holy Qur’ān (1934)
