Primarily, making a mistake in a صَحِيفَة because the letters are ambiguous; a postclassical term. Or reading something in a way at variance with what the writer intended, or with conventional usage. A secondary meaning is altering a word or expression so that the meaning intended by it becomes altered. Or it consists in altering a diacritical point, as in النفى for النقى, or the other way round. Ks says the largest sort of قَصْعَة is the جَفْنَة; next to it is the قَصْعَة [properly so called], which satisfies the hunger of ten; then the صَحْفَة, which satisfies five; then the مِئْكَلَة, which satisfies two men, and three; then the صُحَيْفَة, which satisfies one man.

The plural of صَحْفَةٌ is صِحَافٌ.

One who makes mistakes in reading the صَحِيفَة [or writing, or written piece of paper or of skin]. The vulgar wrongly call such a person صُحُفِىٌّ, with two dammehs; [forming a nisba from a plural of this kind is not allowable,] though the plural is not brought back to the singular in forming a nisba in the case of proper names, such as أَنْمَارِىٌّ and the like, nor in the case of words used in a manner like that of proper names, such as أَنْصَارِىٌ and the like.

Or a learner, one who acquires knowledge from the صَحِيفَة, inferior in rank to the مَشَايِخِ [plural of شَيْخٌ].

A nisba from صَحِيفَةٌ, like حَنَفِىٌّ and بَجَلِىٌّ from حَنِيفَةُ and بَجِيلَةُ.

مُصَحِّفٌ means the same as صَحَفِىٌّ [in the first of these senses].

Plural صُحُفٌ, and صُحْفٌ, a contraction of the first, and صَحَائِفُ, like سَفَائِنُ, plural of سَفِينَةٌ. The first of these plurals is irregular, the singular being likened to قَضِيتٌ, قَلِيبٌ and رَغِيفٌ, of which the plurals are قُضُبٌ, قُلُبٌ and رُغُفٌ [or صَحِيفٌ may be its original, as well as regular, singular]. In the Qur'ān 87, last verse: the books revealed to Abraham and Moses.

the record of his actions is black—صَحِيفَنُهُ سَوْدَآءُ

A phrase often used at the present day in speaking of a bad man.

[صَحِيفَةٌ also means the record of anyone's actions, that is kept in heaven: see رَقٌّ.]

and if the stolen property be papers, or books, having no writing upon them—فَإِنْ كَانَتِ السَّرِقَةُ صُحُفًا لَيْسَ فِيهَا كِتَابٌ

This word, and مِصْحَفٌ and مَصْحَفٌ: the first is the original, being from أُصْحِفَ in the meaning explained above.

It is one of certain words that [some of] the Arabs pronounce with kesr to the م instead of damm, because they find damm difficult to pronounce; others of these words are مِخْدَعٌ, مِطْرَفٌ, مِغْزَلٌ and مِجْسَدٌ.

Or, according to AZ, Temeem pronounce the م with kesr, and Keys pronounce it with damm, [as do most people in the instance of مصحف at the present day,] and Th says that مَصْحَفٌ, with fet-h, is correct and chaste.
