Said of a thing; the opposite of جَمَدَ.

He sends down water from the skies, and the channels flow, each according to its measure: But the torrent bears away to foam that mounts up to the surface. Even so, from that (ore) which they heat in the fire, to make ornaments or utensils therewith, there is a scum likewise. Thus doth Allah (by parables) show forth Truth and Vanity. For the scum disappears like forth cast out; while that which is for the good of mankind remains on the earth. Thus doth Allah set forth parables.

سَائِلَةٌ also means the same as سَيْلٌ, and its plural is سَوَائِلُ, explained in the M as flowing, or running, waters.

34:16

سَيَالٌ is the plural of سَيَالَةٌ [or rather the former is a collective noun of which the latter is the ism waḥda, applied in the present day to a species of mimosa, or acacia, mentioned by Forskal in his Flora Aegypt. Arab., pp. 56 and 124, and by Delile in his Floræ Aegypt. Illustr. (in the Descr. de l'Égypte), no. 965; and to a species of thistle, carduus lacteus, or wild artichoke].

A species of thorny trees, of the kind called عِضَاه; certain trees having white thorns; or the thorny plant called شَبَه; a certain plant said to have white thorns from which, when these are plucked, there issues what resembles milk; certain trees having lank branches and white thorns whose bases resemble the middle pairs of the teeth of virgins.

Or, according to Aboo-Ziyád, tall سَمُر [or gum-acacia trees]; according to the A, the trees called خِلَاف in the dialect of El-Yemen, a name now applied to the salix Aegyptia of Linn.
