muḍāriʿـَيَفْعَلُmaṣdarرَهَقٌ رُهُوقٌ

. He, or it, came upon him, properly as a thing that covered him; or came to him — synonym غَشِيَهُ — and reached, or overtook, him. El-Fárábee. Or it means, or also means, he drew near to, or approached, whether he took him or not; or he followed him and was near to overtaking him.

the time of prayer came upon us—رَهِقَتْنَا الصَّلَاةُ

when any one of you prays towards the thing, let him come near to it—إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الشَّىْءِ فَلْيَرْهَقْهُ
In the Mgh, إِلَى سُتْرَةٍ فَلْيَرْهَقْهَا, that is, towards a thing that he has set up for that purpose, and the like.
I sought such a one until I drew near to him—طَلَبْتُ فُلَانًا حَتَّى رَهِقْتُهُ
. It sometimes means that I took him, and sometimes that I did not take him.
[I sought the thing until I came near to it, and I almost took it, or I took it]—طَلَبْتُ الشَّىْءَ حَتَّى رَهِقْتُهُ وَكِدْتُ آخُذُهُ أَوْ أَخَذْتُهُ
[such a one's going, or going forth or away,] drew near—رَهَقَ شُخُوصُ فُلَانٍ
I drew near to it—أَرْهَقْتُهُ
Synonym دَانَيْتُهُ.
the night has drawn near to you, so hasten—أَرْهَقَكُمُ اللَّيْلُ فَأَسْرِعُوا

No darkness nor shame shall cover their faces! they are companions of the garden; they will abide therein (for aye)!
68:43
خَـٰشِعَةً أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۖ وَقَدْ كَانُوا۟ يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ وَهُمْ سَـٰلِمُونَTheir eyes will be cast down,- ignominy will cover them; seeing that they had been summoned aforetime to bow in adoration, while they were whole, (and had refused).
70:44
خَـٰشِعَةً أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلَّذِى كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَTheir eyes lowered in dejection,- ignominy covering them (all over)! such is the Day the which they are promised!

تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌBlackness will cover them:
