Form 1رَكَسَهُ1 sense
muḍāriʿـُيَفْعُلُmaṣdarرَكْسٌ

Core sense — he turned it over, or upside down; he turned him back to evilgenerated

1.1he turned it over, or upside down—أَرْكَسَهُ

.

Since God has overturned them [for what they have done, or committed]—وَٱللّٰهُ أَرْكَسَهُمْ بِمَا كَسَبُوا

Either form may mean: he turned it over upon its head. The first form also means: he reversed it, making the first part of it last, or turning the fore part behind.

In the Qur'ān 4:90. Synonym تَكَّسَهُمْ; or: has made them return to their unbelief, and رَكَسَهُمْ means the same. Or: has separated, or dispersed, them for what they have done of disbelief and acts of disobedience.

I separated the thing, or set it apart—رَكَسْتُ الشَّىْءَ

أَرْكَسْتُهُ means the same.

May God overturn your enemy upon his head—أَرْكَسَ ٱللّٰهُ عَدُوَّكَ

Or: may God change, or reverse, the state of your enemy.

he turned him back, or made him return, to evil—أَرْكَسَهُ فِى الشَّرِّ
return the garment, or piece of cloth, to the dyeing-liquor—أَرْكِسِ الثَّوْبَ فِى الصِّبْغِ

, (S, Msb,) aor. رَكُسَ , (Msb, TA,) inf. n. رَكْسٌ , (S, A, Msb, K,) He turned it over, or upside down; (S, A, Msb, K;) as also أَرْكَسَهُ : (S:) or the former, (TA,) or ↓ latter, (Msb,) he turned it over upon its head: (Msb, TA:) and the former, he reversed it; made the first part of it to be last; or turned it fore part behind. (Lth, A, Msb, K.) It is said in the Kur [iv. 90], وَٱللّٰهُ أَرْكَسَهُمْ بِمَا كَسَبُوا Since God hath subverted them [for what they have done, or committed]; syn. تَكَّسَهُمْ : (IAar, K:) or hath made them return to their unbelief; (Fr, S, K;) and رَكَسَهُمْ signifies the same: (Fr, TA:) or hath separated, or dispersed, them, for what they have done of their disbelief, and acts of disobedience: (Jel:) رَكَسْتُ الشَّىْءَ and أَرْكَسْتُهُ both signify I separated the thing; or set it apart. (TA.) You say also, أَرْكَسَ ٱللّٰهُ عَدُوَّكَ May God overturn thine enemy upon his head: or change, or reverse, the state, or condition, of thine enemy. (A.) فَمَا لَكُمْ فِى ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ فِئَتَيْنِ وَٱللَّهُ أَرْكَسَهُم بِمَا كَسَبُوٓا۟ ۚ أَتُرِيدُونَ أَن تَهْدُوا۟ مَنْ أَضَلَّ ٱللَّهُ ۖ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُۥ سَبِيلًا

Why should ye be divided into two parties about the Hypocrites? Allah hath upset them for their (evil) deeds. Would ye guide those whom Allah hath thrown out of the Way? For those whom Allah hath thrown out of the Way, never shalt thou find the Way.

Core sense — he became turned over, he went back, he fellgenerated

8.1such a one fell [again] into a case from which he had escaped—ارتكس فُلَانٌ فِى أَمْرٍ كَانَ قَدْ نَجَا مِنْهُ

He, or it, became turned over, upside down, or upon his, or its, head; became inverted, subverted, or reversed; became turned fore part behind. He returned, or went back, from one thing or state to another. He fell.
