1.1he gave him a gift; he aided him, or helped him—ارفدهُ
he gave him, or gave him a gift; or it means, or also means, he aided him, or helped him.
. This verb means the same in the sense of aiding and in the sense of giving; or both verbs mean he aided him by a gift, by a saying, or by something else.
he aided him, or aided along with him, or aided him and was aided by him—رافدهُ
It is said in the Ḥam p. 128 that this verb has been handed down but is not the preferred one; but on p. 276, that both are correct.
مُرَافَدَةٌ means the same as مُعَاوَنَةٌ.
I will not stand unless I am helped to do so—لَا أَقُومُ إِلَّا رَفْدًا
1.1.1I propped it up, or supported it, with it—رَفَدْتُهُ بِهِ
The supporting thing is any other thing used for that purpose.
[Hence,] he propped it up, namely, a wall.
1.1.2he put on him, namely a camel, an appurtenance of the saddle—رَفَدَهُ
Also رَفَدَ عَلَيْهِ. The appurtenance is called a رِفَادَة.
ارفدهُ or ارفد عَلَيْهِ means the same, since إِرْفَادٌ is the same as رَفْدٌ, meaning the putting of a رِفَادَة on a beast, or furnishing him with one.
it is furnished with a piece of rag, as a compress—يُرْفَدُ بِخِرْقَةٍ
[Hence,] said of a wound and the like.
1.1.3it held it fast—رَفَدَهُ
