In the Mj and other old works, الحَمَامَةُ الرَّاعِبِيَّةُ is explained as the pigeon that is loud, or strong, in its cry, or voice: so says MF, and this is the truth.

In the L it is said that الرَّاعِبِىُّ, meaning a kind of wild pigeon or dove, has the form of a relative noun but is not one; or, as someone says, is a relative noun from a place, though he does not know the form of its name.

In the A it is said that حَمَامٌ رَاعِبِىٌّ means a pigeon that cooes loudly, exciting admiration by its voice, or filling the passages with it.
