Maṣdar تَرْصِيصٌ; the meaning is the same. All three of these verbs are also said to mean: he made it (a building) firm and compact.

شَدَّ here is perhaps a mistranscription for سَدَّ, he stopped up. It is a kind of vessel.

, (S, M, A, Mgh, Msb, K,) aor. رَصُصَ , inf. n. رَصٌّ , (S, M, Msb,) He stuck it (a thing, S, Mgh) together, one part to another, (S, A, Mgh, K,) so that there might be no interstice in it; (Mgh;) joined it together; (Msb, K;) namely, a building; (Msb;) and رصّصهُ , (S, * Mgh, K,) inf. n. تَرْصِيصٌ , (S,) signifies the same; (S, Mgh, K;) and so رَصْرَصَهُ : (TA:) or these three verbs all signify he made it (a building) firm and compact: (M:) or رصرصه signifies he made it (a building) firm and strong: (IDrd, K:) and رُصَّ , said of anything, it was made firm, and joined together. (M, TA.) And hence, رصِص القُمْقُمَةَ He tied ( شَدَّ [perhaps a mistranscription for سَدَّ he stopped up]) firmly the mouth of the قمقمة [a kind of vessel]. (Mgh.) And رَصَّ بَابَهُ He closed, or locked, his door; as also لَصَّهُ , q. v. (TA in art. لص .) رَصَّتْ بَيْضَهَا She (a domestic hen, A, K, and an ostrich, A) made her eggs even, or level, with her bill (A, K) and her feet, to sit upon them. (A.) See also رَصَاصةٌ .

This form is said to be vulgar and not allowable; but according to AHát it is correct, and it is quoted by Ez-Zarkashee and by some of the expositors of the Fs, and it is the only form mentioned by AHei.

According to some of the moderns, رُصَاصٌ is also used, and رَصَصٌ, which is a contraction of the first.

It is the same as عَلَابِىُّ, which is pure Arabic; it is so called because of the compactness of its particles.

It is of two kinds: the black, also called أُسْرُبٌّ and أَبَّارٌ, or إِبَارٌ according to different copies of the K; and the white, also called قَلْعِىٌّ and قَصْدِيرٌ, this last being applied in the present day to tin and pewter.

The plural is رَصَائِصُ, which is regular as a plural of either of the forms without teshdeed, but not of the form with teshdeed.
