Core sense — the tail; the end, or last part; followers, or dependantsgenerated
1
This word, and ذُنَابَى, دِنِبَّى and, according to El-Hejeree, ذُنُبَّى, mean the same thing: the tail, the same as ذَيْلٌ.
In the CK الذِّنْبِىُّ is wrongly put for الذِّنْبِىَّ.
But according to Fr, the first of these words is used of the horse and the second of the bird; or the first is used of the horse and the ass and the like more commonly than the second, and the second of a bird more commonly than the first, or more correctly. Or the second belongs properly to a winged creature and the first to anything else, though the second is sometimes used figuratively of the horse: so Er-Riyáshee. Or, as some say, the second means the place where the ذَنَب grows.
The plural of ذَنَبٌ is أَذْنَابٌ. [Hence the phrases that follow.]
