In Freytag's Arabic Proverbs, 1:438, the first word of this proverb is written خُبَأَة and is followed by صِدْقٍ.

Aboo-Zeyd Saʿeed Ibn-Ows El-Anṣāree gave one of his books the title كتاب خبأة because he began it by mentioning خبأة in the sense of بنت, quoting this proverb in support.
