Core sense — it became plain or public; he spoke it aloud; he cleared out a wellgenerated
1.1
maṣdar جَهْرٌ and جِهَارٌ.
It (a thing) was, or became, plain, apparent, conspicuous, open, or public; synonymous with ظَهَرَ, بَدَا, and عَلَنَ.
Er-Rāghib: the basic meaning is that a thing became very plain to be perceived, either by sight or by hearing.
[Some say that when it relates to what is visible it is figurative, and when it relates to what is audible it is proper; but if so, it seems to be used so much in the first way that in that sense it is conventionally regarded as proper. See also جَهْرَةٌ.]
1.2he (a man) was, or became, great, or bulky, before the eyes of the beholder—جَهُرَ
maṣdar, apparently, جَهَارَةٌ and جُهُورَةٌ.
[And therefore a conspicuous object.]
[And he was, or became, pleasing, or goodly, in appearance: see جَهَارَةٌ below.]
1.2.1
Also, with: it (the voice) rose [so as to be plainly heard]; was, or became, high, or loud.
1.2.2
Also, with: he (a man) was, or became, high, or loud, of voice.
1.3he (a man) was unable to see in the sun—جِبِر
Said in the same way of the eye.
.
1.4he made it plain, apparent, open, or public—جَهَرَهُ
Maṣdar جَهْرٌ, جَهَرَ بِهِ, اجهرهُ, [اجهر بِهِ,] and جَهْوَرَهُ.
1.4.1he uttered it with a plain, or an open, voice; openly; publicly—جَهَرَ الكَلَامَ

Said of the speech, the saying, his supplication, his prayer, and his recitation.
Or جَهَرَ بِكَلَامِهِ, بِالقَوْلِ, جَهْوَرَ, and بِقِرَآءَتِهِ: he uttered his speech, the saying, and his recitation with a raised, or loud, voice; aloud.
And جَهَرَ الصَّوْتَ: he raised the voice [so as to make it plainly heard].
1.4.2he made known the acts of disobedience he had committed, by talking of them—جَهَرَ بِالمَعَاصِى
Also اجهر and جاهر.
One who does so is called مُجَاهِرٌ بِالمُعَاصِى, or simply مُجَاهِرٌ.

He saw him (a man) with no veil between them; also اجتهرهُ. Or he looked towards him, or regarded him.
Synonymous with تَأْخُذُهُ.

1.4.5he was pleased with his beauty and his form, or state of dress—استجرهُ
