What has collected of the seminal fluid of a horse [after his resting from covering]; and so جِمَامٌ.

1.1[he gave me the bowlful of flour]أَعْطَانِى جمامَ القَدَحِ دَقِيقًا

Also, and جِمَامٌ and جَمَامٌ [but see what follows]: the quantity [of flour or the like] that rises above the head of the measure called مَكُّوك after the filling, more than its طَفَاف; and so جَمَمٌ. Or the fill of a bowl, without a head.

According to ISk, this is said only of flour and the like.

But جمام, meaning the “resting” of a horse, is with fet-ḥ only.

Or, according to Fr, one says جِمَامٌ القَدَحِ المَآءً with kesr, meaning the bowlful of water; and جُمَامُ المَكُّوكِ دَقِيقًا with damm; and جَمَامٌ الفَرَسِ with fet-ḥ only; and one does not say جُمَامٌ with damm except of flour and the like, meaning the quantity that rises above the head of the مكّوك after the filling.

One says أَعْطِنِى جُمَامَ المَكُّوكِ when a person puts on what the head of the مكّوك will bear, and gives it.

In the T it is said that أَعْطِهِ جمامَ المَكُّوكِ means: give him [the quantity of] a مكّوك without a head; but [SM says] I have seen written in its margin that the right meaning is the quantity borne by the head of the مكّوك.
