اجزأ is also synonymous with جَزَى, the first belonging to the dialect of Temeem and the second to that of El-Hijáz; one may drop the ء and say أَجْزَى, which some of the lawyers use in the sense of [جَزَى, that is,] قَضَى.
Synonymous with قَضَتْ, the verb here being a dialectal variant of جَزَتْ.
the camel, or cow, makes satisfaction for seven, or serves in place of seven—البَدَنَةُ تَجْزِئُ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ
[This will make satisfaction for this: or this will serve in place of this]—هٰذَا يُجْزِئ ُعَنْ هٰذَا
According to 'Alee Ibn-'Eesà, يُجْزِى also, dropping the ء.

Said of pasture or herbage, and of a meadow: it was, or became, luxuriant, because it satisfies the animals that feed on it.

[Hence,] اجزأ مُجْزَى غَيْرِهِ [or مُجْزَأَ غَيْرِهِ ] It (a thing) satisfied, sufficed, or contented, in lieu of another thing or other things; stood, or served, in stead thereof. (Msb.)
