maṣdar جُؤَارٌ and جَأْر. Said of a bull, or of a calf: he lowed.
Said of a cow.
جُؤَارٌ is like خُوَارٌ, and is put in place of it in a reading of the Qur'ān 7:146 and 20:90.

With the same maṣdars. Said of a man praying: he raised his voice in prayer or supplication; he cried out.
Es-Suddee: he cried out, calling for aid; he humbled himself and raised his voice. He also cried out, or called, for aid.
[According to Katádeh, يَجْأَرُونَ in the Qur'ān 23:66 means يَخْرَعُونَ, as it is written; but this is apparently a miscopying for يَجْزَعُونَ They show grief and agitation, and the like.]

, aor. جَأََ , inf. n. جُؤَارٌ (S, A, K) and جَأْر (K,) He, (a bull, S and K, or a calf, A,) and جَأْرَتْ she, (a cow, K,) lowed. (S, A, K.) جُؤَارٌ is like خُوَارٌ ; and is substituted for the latter in a reading of the Kur vii. 146 and xx. 90. (Akh, S.) Also, (S, A, K,) inf. ns. as above, (K,) He (a man praying, A and TA) raised his voice in prayer, or supplication: (Th, K:) he cried out: (Es-Suddee, TA:) he cried out, calling for aid, or succour; humbled, or abased, himself, and raised his voice: (A:) he humbled, or abased, himself, with earnest supplication; (S, K;) اِلَى ٱللّٰهِ to God; (S;) and cried out, or called, for aid, or succour.
