[And, said of a man, a letter, etc.]
The first is said of anything that goes, or is sent, by itself; of anything that will not go by itself, such as a letter or a present, one says بَعَثَ بِهِ.
he sent him, or it, alone, by himself, or by itself—بَعَثَهُ
But El-Fárábee says that the former of these two has another meaning, given below, and that the latter means he sent him, or it.
he sent him, or it, by, or with, another, or others—بَعَثَ بِهِ
the being sent to the war was appointed them and imposed on them as an obligation—ضُرِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ البَعْثُ

[And we made the camel to rise, and lo, the necklace was beneath him]—فَبَعَثْنَا البَعِيرَ فإِذَا العِقْدُ تَحْتَهُ
he roused him, or put him in motion or action, to do the affair, or thing—بَعَثَهُ عَلَى الأَمْرِ
He roused him, excited him, or put him in motion or action; said of anything, that is, of any person or animal, and particularly of an animal lying down, or of a person sitting.
