He who does not lay the foundation of his property with justice destroys it—مَنْ لَمْ يُؤَسِّسْ مِلْكَهُ بِالعَدْلِ هَدَمَهُ

لَا تَقُمْ فِيهِ أَبَدًا ۚ لَّمَسْجِدٌ أُسِّسَ عَلَى ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ مِنْ أَوَّلِ يَوْمٍ أَحَقُّ أَن تَقُومَ فِيهِ ۚ فِيهِ رِجَالٌ يُحِبُّونَ أَن يَتَطَهَّرُوا۟ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُطَّهِّرِينَNever stand thou forth therein. There is a mosque whose foundation was laid from the first day on piety; it is more worthy of the standing forth (for prayer) therein. In it are men who love to be purified; and Allah loveth those who make themselves pure.
9:109
أَفَمَنْ أَسَّسَ بُنْيَـٰنَهُۥ عَلَىٰ تَقْوَىٰ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرِضْوَٰنٍ خَيْرٌ أَم مَّنْ أَسَّسَ بُنْيَـٰنَهُۥ عَلَىٰ شَفَا جُرُفٍ هَارٍ فَٱنْهَارَ بِهِۦ فِى نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَWhich then is best? - he that layeth his foundation on piety to Allah and His good pleasure? - or he that layeth his foundation on an undermined sand-cliff ready to crumble to pieces? and it doth crumble to pieces with him, into the fire of Hell. And Allah guideth not people that do wrong.

, (S, M, Msb,) inf. n. تَأْسِيسٌ , (S, Msb, K,) He founded it; or made, or laid, a foundation, or basis, for it; (S, * Msb;) namely, a building, (S,) or a wall: (Msb:) he marked out the limits of it, (namely, of a house,) and raised its foundations: he built its foundation, or basis: (K:) he commenced it; namely, a building; as also أَسَّهُ , aor. يَؤُسُّهُ , inf. n. أَسَّ : (M:) he built it; namely, a house; (TA;) as also أَسَّهُ . (K.) You say, هٰذَا تَأْسِيسٌ حَسَنٌ [This is a good founding, or foundation]. (TA.) And مَنْ لَمْ يُؤَسِّسْ مِلْكَهُ بِالعَدْلِ هَدَمَهُ [He who does not lay the foundation of his property with equity, or justice, destroys it]. (A, TA.) أسّس زَادًا : see زَادَ in art. زود .

The foundation, basis, or lowest part, of a building or of a wall; also أَسٌّ, إِسٌّ, أَسَاسٌ, and أَسَسٌ, which is a contraction of أَسَاسٌ.
Or the commencement of a building; and any commencement of a thing; also أَسٌّ, أَسَاسٌ, and أَسَسٌ.
And the origin, source, stock, or root of a man; also أَسٌّ. Or of anything; also أَسٌّ, إِسٌّ, and أَسِيسٌ.
And the heart of a man, because [the Arabs believe that] it is the first thing that comes into existence in the womb.
Plural آسَاسٌ, إِسَاسٌ, and أُسُسٌ. The first is plural of أٌسٌّ, as أَقْفَالٌ is of قُفْلٌ; or of أَسَسٌ, as أَسْبَابٌ is of سَبَبٌ; or, as some say, of أُسُسٌ [as أَعْنَاقٌ is of عُنُقٌ], so that it is a plural of a plural. The second is of أَسٌّ, as عِسَاسٌ is of عُسٌّ; and the third is of أَسَاسٌ, as عُنُقٌ is of عَنَاقٌ.
He uprooted it from its foundation—قَلَعَهُ مِنْ أُسِّهِ
Such a one — the foundation of his affair, or case, is falsehood—فُلَانٌ أَسَاسُ أَمْرِهِ الكَذِبُ
That was in old time, at the beginning of time—كَانَ ذٰلَكَ عَلَى أُسِّ الدَّهْرِ
That was in old time, at the beginning of time—أَسِهِ
That was in old time, at the beginning of time—إِسِهِ
In the same way, عَلَي ٱسْتِ الدَّهْرِ.

Also a remain, relic, trace, vestige, sign, mark, or track, of anything.

Said when one guides himself by a mark or track, or by camels' dung; but when the way is plain you say خُذْ شَرَكَ الطَّرِيقِ.

That is, the remains of ashes between the أَثَافِى, which see. This occurs in a verse of En-Nábighah Edh-Dhubyánee, but according to most who relate the verse it is آسٌ.

(A.) Also A remain, relic, trace, vestige, sign, mark, or track, of anything. (K.) You say, خُذْ أُسَّ الطَّرِيقِ , or أَسَّ الطَّرِيقِ , [accord. to different copies of the K, meaning, Take thou to the track of the way,] when one guides himself by any mark or track, or by camels' dung: but when the way is manifest, you say, خُذْ شَرَكَ الطَّرِيقِ . (K.) أُسٌّ also signifies The remains of ashes (M, K) between the أَثَافِى , q.v.: (M:) occurring in a verse of En-Nábighah Edh-Dhubyánee; but accord. to most relates of this verse, it is آسٌ . (TA.)
